Success and Opportunity

A Year of Dedication, Collaboration, and Expansion  …And a chance to double your contribution

In fiscal 2022 SGHY expanded services by 150%, increasing the number of school partnerships from two to five as well as greatly expanding the curriculums we can offer.  Thanks to generous contributions from our individual, corporate, and union supporters we have, so far, been able to provide a wide variety of programs in 1,180 sessions in fiscal 2023(Fall 2022); but there are 1,780 left to fund.  Each potential student deserves a chance to find their niche(s), a place they can grow, to gain familiarity with activities, ideas and proficiency in disciplines they would not have had a chance to experience otherwise.

Our curriculums range from health-centric overnight and day summer camps (Camp Zeke and Kids of Summer Day Camp) to world-class exposure to sports, the arts, natural environment and the cosmos.  In so doing SGHY collaborates with prestigious institutions such as Columbia University, Rockefeller University, The Hayden Planetarium, The New York Conservatory of Music, the National Dance Institute, among others, who contribute their students and faculty as mentors and instructors in-specialized workshops.

SGHY invests great effort to offer exposure to activities and concepts that promote positive social-emotional development for every student who participates. We partner with more than a dozen expert organizations to deliver sports, dance, hands-on science, outdoor nature, music, summer camps, and more— all of whom endeavor to provide under-served students with opportunities that build self-esteem, expand their imagination, and lay a strong foundation for an inclusive, accomplished, better educated and more sustainable future.

Every dollar donated to SGHY directly benefits our children. We are a particularly cost-effective program, as we negotiate and receive generous discounts from our non-profit program providers, utilize union bus drivers, and follow collective bargaining agreements for compensating school faculty for out-of-school time.  We are staffed by unusually dedicated volunteers.

Forward Focus: Empowering Youth for Years to Come

For fiscal 2023, SGHY is preparing to offer more high-quality, unique curriculum opportunities than ever before – 2960, in fact. As aways, all opportunities will be comprehensive, inspiring, and totally free-of-charge for every qualifying student in the schools with which we partner— including transportation, meals, attire, and supplies as needed. We also plan to expand our qualifying parameters to increase the number of youths we can reach, as well as expanding number of schools that are serving very low-income populations.  Your support will help us achieve those goals.

Double Your Contribution

With the generous aid of our Board Member and major donor, your donation will be matched by the Dr. David M. Milch Foundation up to midnight Dec. 31, 2022.

Help us bring opportunity to under-served NYC teens and pre-teens in New Year 2023.
